As part of its ongoing efforts to promote press freedom and defend journalists’ rights, Journalists Without Borders has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining the official license to open a branch in the Kurdistan Region – Iraq.
Dr. Farhad Ali, President of the organization, paid an official visit to the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations in the Region, where he was received by the Head of the Department, Mr. Falah Hassan. During the meeting, Dr. Ali was formally handed the legal permit allowing the organization to carry out its media and advocacy activities officially within the Region.
The opening of the branch marks a strategic step toward strengthening cooperation with official institutions and civil society organizations, and supporting a free and safe media environment in Kurdistan.
