Journalists without Borders organized a workshop entitled “An Overview of Europe and the European Union”, presented by Mr. Ali Laali, as part of the organization’s program aimed at strengthening knowledge of European affairs and the political and legal institutions of Europe.

The workshop addressed the concept of Europe and the European Union, focusing on the origins of the European Union, its objectives and institutions, as well as its political, economic and social role. Particular attention was also given to the principles on which the European Union is based, including democracy, the rule of law, human rights and cooperation among European countries.
During the workshop, Mr. Ali Laali explained that understanding the nature of the European Union and the way its institutions operate contributes to a clearer understanding of the political and legal environment in Europe. It also provides a better perspective on relations between member states and the challenges currently facing the European Union.

The workshop also featured an interactive discussion with participants, who raised a number of questions concerning the work of the European Union’s institutions, decision-making mechanisms, relations between the European Union and its member states, and the role of citizens in European democratic life.
The workshop is part of a series of activities and events organized by Journalists without Borders to provide accessible yet in-depth knowledge of political, historical and legal issues, while encouraging dialogue and discussion on European and international affairs.
