As part of the annual cultural and educational program organized by Journalists without Borders, an introductory presentation was given on this year’s lecture project, which consists of 12 lectures covering historical, political, cultural, and media-related topics. The project aims to promote knowledge, raise awareness, and strengthen dialogue and mutual understanding among different segments of society.
Following the introduction, the second part of the first lecture, entitled “The Middle East: Cradle of Civilizations and Center of Historical Transformations,” was presented.
During the lecture, journalist Mohammed Jawad Alkhafaji provided a concise overview of the civilizations that emerged in the Middle East, beginning with the ancient civilizations that laid the foundations of writing, law, and urban organization. He then discussed the successive civilizations and empires that shaped the region, concluding with the Islamic civilization and its remarkable scientific, cultural, and humanitarian contributions to the development of human civilization.
The lecture also highlighted the lasting influence of these civilizations on the modern world in the fields of thought, law, science, and culture, emphasizing that understanding the history of the Middle East is essential for understanding many of today’s political and cultural developments.
The event concluded with an engaging discussion, during which participants asked questions and shared valuable insights that enriched the dialogue on the region’s historical legacy and its continuing significance today.
