Journalists without Borders held its third workshop under the title “Press Freedom and Independent Journalism” as part of its educational and awareness-raising programme aimed at strengthening understanding of the importance of press freedom and supporting independent journalists.

The workshop opened with an address by Dr Farhad Ali, Chairman of Journalists without Borders. In his speech, he stressed the need to support a free press and independent journalists, highlighting their essential role in providing the public with information, promoting freedom of expression, and upholding democratic principles.

Dr Farhad Ali also outlined several of the organisation’s upcoming programmes and activities. He announced plans for a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels in November, which is expected to include meetings with Members of the European Parliament. The visit aims to provide an opportunity to learn more about the work of the European Parliament and to encourage dialogue and the exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.

The workshop’s main presentation was delivered by Mr Ali Laali, who addressed the importance of press freedom and independent journalism, as well as the need to establish conditions that enable journalists to carry out their professional duties without pressure or interference that could undermine their independence.

The workshop also provided participants with an opportunity to exchange views and discuss the role of independent media in reporting facts, raising public awareness, and supporting democratic values.
This workshop forms part of a series of educational activities and events organised by Journalists without Borders as part of its ongoing efforts to promote knowledge, encourage dialogue, and support press freedom and the independence of journalistic work.
